5 simple daily habits that will dramatically improve your life

The Humanist way is all about building yourself up to achieve your potential, become the greatest version of yourself — through meaningful goals and strong connections.

Daily habits are a powerful way to move you closer to your goals and mission, one step at a time.

These are 5 daily habits that have had a tremendous positive impact on my daily life.

1. Day Design: Keep a day design list

I keep a collection of digital notes — filled with principles, mindset hacks and more.

I keep them always open somewhere I’m very likely to spontaneously glance upon them.

So I’m constantly seeing them throughout the day.

These are information that radically improve the quality of how I think and live throughout the day — if I’m able to keep them in mind.

That’s why I call them Day Design notes — they can shape how your entire day goes if you’re able to remember them.

Like right now I have a note that gives me motivation to move towards one of my life goals.

It’s a goal with activities that I don’t enjoy very much — but when I see this day design note, I’m hit once again with motivation to keep me going.

2. Eat real food

Never underestimate the effect what you eat can have on your day.

Energy levels and mood — these two are no joke in how massively they impact your quality of day.

And food is a major major contributing factor to these two.

I remember one time when I was feeling incredibly downcast about my life situation. I would say unreasonably downcast.

So many negative thoughts.

It turned out it very likely something to do with the poor quality of food I had eaten — and eaten 7 hours prior.

It was absolutely incredible how my mood transformed once I got to eat again. Eat some real good healthy food.

You know we often think that our mood are solely due to “big things” like how life is treating us and whether we feel fulfilled.

But mood also has a lot to do with the smaller, mundane things — the food you ate, how much you slept, the lights in your surroundings, your posture, etc.

Eat more of a healthy, balanced diet filled with long-lasting-energy-giving foods.

And see the massive impact it has on the quality of your days.

3. Make progress towards your goals — no matter how small

The best goals are both a means and an end.

Goals give you an incredible destination to work towards.

They give you direction.

It’s the progress you make towards this destination in line with this direction that gives you a sense of a purpose.

No matter how small the progress you made, you know for a fact that you’re getting closer to where you want to be.

You’re not stuck in one place. You’re actually moving forward in life.

When the goal is something monumental like becoming the greatest version of yourself, every little progress you make feels ever more meaningful.

4. Challenge your body and mind

You are a being filled with power and potential. Put it to use everyday.

When you challenge your body and mind you come alive.

Exercise exercise exercise.

Manifest your physical energy into the world.

Go for a run, lift weights, play a sport, learn to fight…

Your mind…

Your cognitive powers. Your creative powers. They are there to be unleashed.

Feel the power flowing from you, the source, into the world, making incredible impacts all around you.

Humanists don’t just let things happen to them. They make things happen.

5. Learn to be with yourself

I’ve been doing this more lately and I’ve been feeling the sense of peace it can bring.

It has also made positive impacts on my productivity.

Learn to just be. Be with your thoughts.

Avoid being constantly stimulated all the time. You don’t have to hear another human’s voice at all times.

You’ll see that this will also make a difference in those moments where you need to focus in the absence of any constant dopamine hit.

Like in creative moments. Overcoming writer’s block and stuff.

Even the period of waiting to sleep — some people routinely mess up their sleep schedules — simply because they feel bored going to sleep.

If only they could learn to be with themselves free of all stimulation — this would be much less of an issue.
